What If We Move to Uranus and Neptune

So, after you go to the Saturn, you return to Uranus. I think you has become Pro Astronaut now. So you has experienced many guts, intoxicated, loss of body organs, and many deaths to arrive here. Don't be happy, your live is still unsafe. Two more planet, Uranus and Neptune! This episode is different from other from this series, I combined what happens in Uranus and Neptune in one episode. So, stay tuned for the last episode!

Uranus. Beautiful, right?
1.  You Will Face Long Time of Journey
The Apollo speed is around 38.400 km/h, or 40 times than your jet plane. So, if you using Apollo spacecraft to deliver your body from Earth to Uranus you need..... Okay, I will calculate this. 2.600.000.000/38.400=67.708 hours or about 2.821 days or about 7,7 years! That's enough to make you bored, if your spacecraft size, shape and speed is identical as Apollo spacecraft, you will BORED. So you need larger spacecraft and thousands of Earth movie or you need faster spacecraft
How about Neptune? Neptune is farthest-from-the-Sun planet in our Solar System, 4,46 billion km from Sun or 4,3 billion km from Earth. So how much time Apollo spacecraft need to travel from Earth to Neptune? Let us start the quick count! 4.300.000.000/38.400=111.979 h or 4.665 days or 12,7 years to reach this planet.
You're not only must bring DVD and iPod, you need a anti aging cream and maybe younger astronaut for backups. If your age is 40 when you start to drive right to Neptune, when you arrived there your age is becoming 53 years. If you live in Neptune for 5 years, when you return to Earth, your age is now 71 years. Your little kids now has become dad and mom, and you has skipping many important events in history, maybe USSR are back or US and Canada are becoming one country.

2. You Can Be Depressed Here
Yeah, far away from your family, only meet with the same person everyday, doing same thing everyday, only watched same movie, definitely can make stressful conditions for you. People that go to other planets are always feel this. Travel to other planets is not like traveling with your car, when you can stop at resting area or enjoy some tour in city that you travel through. It's way different. The condition can make some people to hurting themselves and other people, even do suicide or kill other people
But, there's solution for this. Before they send into this far planet, they are must be putted in isolation room for days or weeks and proved that they can survive through some period of loneliness. And, who is say send movie to other planets is impossible? It's possible, but the download/upload speed at other space is slow, so just be patient. The last thing is, maybe in your journey you meet other people (i.e. aliens)

Parts of Neptune.
3. You Need Other Sources of Energy
You can't using solar panels, obviously because it distance from Sun. You can't using coal, because you need lot of coal and oxygen to reach this 2 planet because it distance. You can't using hydroelectric, because (obviously) there's no river at the space and at the giant planet.
So, what I should use for adventure at this planet? I have the answer. You maybe want to consider to stopping at the Moon and refill the fuel tank with helium-3 that can be used for clean energy. Helium-3 are also available at all giant gas, so don't worry if you want to use that energy. Or you can using laser transferred electricity from Earth. But the laser efficiency for transfer electricity at such distance is can be questioned. Or you want to use 1.000.000 white mouse that running inside the running wheels? Just try it.

Neptune storm. It size very huge, some larger than the Earth!
4. Watch Out for The Wind!
Really. At this planet the wind are running fast, at Uranus the wind can reach 900 km/h. If you want to know, it speed was relative to modern passenger jet. That's fast, man! Neptune wind is... what did you think? It slower than the Uranus wind? Big NO! In fact, the wind at Neptune is the fastest compared to other planets at our Solar System! So, how fast is the Neptune wind? 2400 km/h. That's cool, right? It can be compared to Eurofighter Typoon speed, faster than the Concorde, and faster than snail that running at the leaf!
So, what happens if you exposed to the wind in Uranus? Your hair will not being messy, your hair will be fly to 200 km away place. And you will dead (absolutely). In Neptune? Worse. Your bone will destroyed and your body become ashes. And (again) you will dead.

Uranus temperature and pressure. 0℃= 273K
5. Brrr... it Freezing Here!
So, it distance was billion miles from Sun, what would you expecting? Hot beach? That's impossible! I remembering you, it cold here! You don't want to stray around this planet with only t-shirt and bare feet. It's freezing, man! The temperature at Uranus is around -153℃ up to -218℃. That's cold, right? How about Neptune? It's much cooler there! Neptune average temperature is -214℃ (actually, Uranus are the coldest planet in our solar system, it beating Neptune, so I write some wrong fact at 2 sentence before this).
So, how did you can survive in that condition? Use large warming machine. Or just don't leave our great Earth, you will not frozen. So this series are reach it end. Goodbye and stay tuned for other series!

What If We Move to Saturn

Saturn is one of solar system most iconic planet with its large ring. Saturn is also second largest planet in Solar System. But, that wasn't major problem for me and you if you want to stay there, right? You will still alive and happy ending? NO, as you don't live in the earth you will die. This is the major problem:

Is that's cool?!
1. You, Like At Jupiter Will Crushed
Still, in every major planet this is great problem. Because it large size, all 4 giant gasses have this problem. At Saturn itself, the masses is 95 times larger than the Earth. If your weight at the Earth is 500 N (assuming that your mass is 50 kg and Earth gravitational acceleration is 10 m/s²(mass and weight are different, mass is never change,(except you in diet) even if you are at non gravitational area, it SI are kg, weight are the force due to gravity, it SI are N)) your weight at Saturn is 595 N. That's pretty large different. You are will crushed because it gravitational force.

500m/s?! That's fast
2. You Will Blown Up By It Wind
Saturn have one of fastest wind in Solar System. I mean fast... it fast. It wind can reach 500 m/s (or 1800 km/h). If you can't imagine wind with that speed (because we never fall into that wind, fortunately) just imagine that the wind that blows to you is around same as F-22 fighters cruising speed.
That wind are faster than the sound speed, 747, Spitfire plane,  F-5 fighters, F1 car, and human walking. At the Earth, we only ever experienced 408 km/h wind and that was very destructive if it's placed in New York or London. Fortunately it doesn't make large number of death. The Saturn fastest wind speed can reach 4.5 times than the Earth maximum wind. If your base is from plastic curtain your base will blown up by wind.

Molecular hydrogen layer here looks like cork!
3. You Can't Just Make House Here
This also problem for all giant gasses planet. Gas, gas they are at every way in giant gas. Helium here are lesser than the Helium at Jupiter, only around 3% Helium I'm the Saturn. Hydrogen here are dominating, 96% from all materials in Saturn. Because you will never find land here, you have 2 options for your operational base, in Saturn orbit or floating around inside Saturn atmosphere.
If you choose to live in Saturn orbit, your base maybe being hit by uncountable Saturn moonlets or being hit by dust that floating around. If you want to live by floating in Saturn atmosphere, your problem is how to transfer materials and people inside or outside it. Because large gravitational pull, when you approaching the base, you can dragged down and miss your base. If you going outside it, you will need very powerful rockets to escape from Saturn gravity. Choose wisely.

If you want to eat Chile, I mean Chilli, at the Saturn, you need to bring it from Earth
4. You Wouldn't Able To Plant Anything Here
I mean planting plant, like tree or red chilli, not planting concrete or steel, obviously. So, why you can't plant anything here? The reason is.... play the drums.... is all things that I has told above. If you don't understand, don't worry, I will lighting it up... lighting up... Stop the drums sounds!
Yeah, this because there is no ground here. So you can't just planting it at Saturn without bringing any dirt and place to put the dirt.
Second, there's no sunlight here. Plant need sunlight to do photosynthesis. You also have to bring UV light and battery to powered it.
Third, there's no water and air here. Plant need this combos because water and air was also important for photosynthesis and cell activities (if you want to know what is the cell, watch this video(I don't make it, nor endorsed it)).
Fourth, the wind here are very strong, as I has told to you. The plant will fly because the wind. So, you need to plant your plant inside your spaceship at controlled area.

NOT DRAWN TO SCALE, absolutely.
5. You Will Wait 29,5 Years to Celebrate New Year
Because it length from Sun is 9,5 times longer than Earth-Sun length, you will be need to wait very long to celebrate New Year here, if your age is 40, you need to wait until your age is around 70 to celebrate New Year. You may bored, but people say the hour are running very fast.
If you have clients in Saturn, (maybe a balloon-head-alien) and he say the deadline is 1 years, you have 29,5 years to complete that order. So, next time your bosses say the deadline for your Island-in-the-Sky is 10 years, say your boss that human now live in Saturn, so your deadline is now 295 years. WARNING!!! If you say that to your boss, you may be fired or become shooting target for your boss shoes.

What If We Move to Jupiter

So, after breathe litres of CO2 in Mars and Venus, holding your breathe in Mercury, what happens next? Wait, there's still many planet for you to stay there, so your suffering don't lifted up. Now I will assigned you to Jupiter, largest planet in Solar System. So... what will happen if you move to Jupiter?

Jupiter size. That small circle are Earth
1. You Will Crushed By Large Gravitational Forces
I promise this time I will not write about you can't breathe. So we start with this. Because it enormous size, (it mass were 317x larger than the Earth mass) it will have very high gravitational forces. Your body are only adapted to Earth gravitational forces not Jupiter gravitational forces, so your body can't resist the gravitational force at Jupiter. Your bone will crushed, your skin will destroyed, your brain will be juice for zombie to drink. That's scary? No. You will not scared because before you can scream around your body has crushed. So I think you will RIP (maybe the last P must changed into J, Rest In Jupiter)

2. You Can't Standing
Yeah, Jupiter is large planet, but you will have to wait if you want summer vacation there, except you want to spend your vacation at hot air balloon. Because Jupiter are gasses planet that contains hydrogen and helium (that answer all of your questions) so you can't just walk around. The Jupiter colonisation are maybe using air balloon that burn hydrogen to keep flying and harvest the helium-3, isotope of helium that rare in Earth, but in giant gas planet are common. Helium-3 is can be use for clean energy. But, maybe you want to control that air balloon from Earth if you want to be easy.

Jupiter temperature
3. You Will.....Freezing or Melting?
This depends on what layer you want to stay. If you want to stay in surface (actually it wasn't surface, it don't contains any  surface, it only scientists term for place where the pressure is same as the Earth) to 30 miles above the ground, the temperature is decreasing if you climbed the atmosphere. It have temperature range from -100℃~-160℃. If you want to climbing the atmosphere stair to next layer, the temperature increase if you climbed above. The temperature is can become -100℃ again as you rising and at the highest point it can reach 725℃. Just prepared what did you need, Heat Clothes or Cold Clothes.

4. Your Calendar Need To Be Adjusted
Because 1 years in Jupiter is as same as 4332 Earth Day or 11,8 Earth Years. This because it position. Jupiter-Sun distance is about 5 times than Earth-Sun distance. This resulting very long orbiting period. So, while (technically, because you celebrate your birthday every Jupiter years) your age is younger than your age at the Earth, you will have to wait 11 year to celebrate New Year, 1 decades at Jupiter is 110 years, 1 century in Jupiter is 1100 years, 1 millennium is 11000 years. So if Halley Comet are closing to the Sun in Earth years is 75-76 years, if you using Jupiter calendar The Halley Comet just need 6,8 Jupiter Years for every it's perihelion.

Jupiter atmosphere composition.
5. You Can't Breathe
Hmm.... yeah, what is other best answer? So I break my promise, forgive me ;). You can't breathe because there's only small trace of Oxygen. The Jupiter, like Sun, are make from Helium and Hydrogen (I has told you, look again at 2nd number). Now to colonize the Jupiter, don't use the Mars Rover that can transform CO2→O2. Why? First reason Jupiter real surface are many miles below the atmosphere. Second reason, Jupiter are also only have abundant number of CO2, so that CO2 transformer are useless. Third reason, look the name. The Mars Rover are should be used in Mars, not in Jupiter or Halley Comet.

What If We Move to Mars

So.. did you has watching The Martian? If you don't, same. I also don't have time to watch it. But that's scored the box office ( yeah, I'm not a film expert, if you want to see the synopsis, look at IMDb.). So just end the film review. Back to our topics, in this 3rd articles from this series, we are now leaving the Mercury and Venus and go to Mars. What If.... you move to Mars?

That's lot of CO2 in Mars and Venus!
1. You Can't Breathe
Yeah, I bored to write this again. But, yeah! I still start using this. So you don't have any atmosphere at Mercury and you will have to breathe with CO2 at Venus. How about the Mars? Yeah, unfortunately you will have to breathe in CO2 again. (You) What? I has breathe many liters of CO2 in Venus and I still need to breathe CO2 again? Yeah, but that's the fact. Mars atmosphere is composed from 95,97% of CO2, 1,98% of Argon, 1,89% of Nitrogen, 0,146% of Oxygen, and 0,0557% of CO. So your MarsCar still need that CO2→O2 converter. Your Spacesuit must equipped with CO2→O2 converter or lots of Oxygen.

Mars temperature. Look at "hot" part. That's still in minus ℃
2. You Will Freezing
Okay, you may don't freezing in Mars, if you are living in perfect place you will not freezing. The fact is at average Mars temperature is -60℃. But, you know, as in the Earth, the equator are hotter than at the poles. This also applies in Mars. At the Mars equator, the temperature is can reach 20℃ at the summer day.
But because Mars don't have thermal blanket, (thermal blanket is system that able to retain the thermal energy. Earth have this one.(if you want to understand it, use your Teddy Bear blanket. You will still feel warm even when there's no outside warmer because your blanket are able to retain heat from your body)) at the night the Mars temperature can reach -73℃. (Actually you still freezing). If at the equator the temperature was that extreme, look the temperature at Mars poles. At Mars poles, the temperature can gets into -125℃. This temperature actually 1,5 times colder than dry ice that use in your dry-ice ice cream.

Did he looks like WALL-E?
3. You Can't Plant Anything
The Mars are called red planet because it have a yellow to red surface (yeah). But, why Mars have red color? This because it surface was makes from iron-oxide or in your usual language, rusting iron. Now, you know that the Mars surface is not makes from dirt. Just imagine, did you have metal pipes? Can you plant dandelion at that pipes? Absolutely not. The plant root are not strong enough to breach the iron. If it somehow can pierce that iron, the plant don't need too much iron. It will die because iron poisoning. So, how did you plant your orchids flowers here? My tips, bring your dirt and your broken bottle to Mars and plant your orchids on that. #simple.

That's geological area at Mars. Click it to look larger version
4. Your Weight Will Be Lesser than At The Earth
Good news for you that in diet. So the Mars are smaller than the Earth, and it having less gravitational forces. Don't be optimistic, you will not jumping around like you'd in moon or Venus. This will affect your body, because you are added osteoporosis risk. This are also what happens in the ISS. Because you need less energy to move around, calcium in your bone will be released. Answer for this question? You need to doing sports there. At the Mars. But this come to not fun like you that works in gym. Just ask the ISS crew. Or you want to doing Sunday-jogging at the Mars?

He wasn't at Mars, he is in Mauna Loa, Hawaii, United State, Earth, Solar System, Milky Way ;)
5. You Can Build Building in Mars Without Material from Earth
Seriously (not too). Mars is make from iron (I suggest you to using the inner side of Mars that don't rusting) and you can mine it. Not only iron, Mars also contains aluminium, magnesium, silicon, calcium and many other elements. Okay, you still need materials from Earth like for make drilling machine, refining, storing, and machine for build something from that. But, still if you want iron house in the Mars you can using it. You can even make spacecraft to go to Oort Cloud (just maybe) because the Mars have lesser gravitational forces so you can launch spacecraft to space easily.

What If We Live in Venus

We live in Earth (absolutely, except you work in ISS) and earth is perfect place. Not too cold or to hot. We have water in 3 form, liquid, solid, and gasses. Because that we have ocean, sea, river, bacteria, storm, plants, animal, and human. So how if we live in Venus?

Mariner 1 launch. It crash 4 minutes after it's launched
1. Before We Live There, Our Spaceship Are Destroyed
This because very high atmospheric pressure. So your spacecraft are has been destroyed because very high atmospheric pressure. Two spacecraft that tried to enter the Venus atmosphere are destroyed. Soviet owned Venera 3 are crash landing at Venus and unable to call to earth. The Mariner 1 spacecraft, are failed when launched to space because software error (okay, the Venus is not reason why this spacecraft exploded. Just FYI). You need very strong spacecraft to enter the Venus.

Venus and earth size compared
2. We Will Melting
After you land, you will encounter the first problem. Earth and Venus are have similar size, but they have very different conditions. As I told, earth temperature was OK. Venus, instead have very high temperature, the highest in the solar system. It temperature was 462℃, 4 times than boiling water temperature. It even higher than Mercury, that closer to the sun then Venus. It's because Venus have many CO2, 300 times than earth CO2. So, the Venus are like greenhouse, because it CO2, the heat from sun are only able to getting in to it, but they can't go outside. Yeah, if you barbecued a tenderloin at Venus, it will instantly melting with your body (I never try this, but I recommend you to never do this, for obvious reason)

Venus atmosphere pressure. Great picture ;)
3. Our Body Will Be Crushed
Okay, now you has evolved and you can resist heat until 600℃. But, one problem solved, other problems coming. If your skin just resist to heat, other elements of Venus will crush you (Really). Even if it's size are similar to earth, so it gravitational forces are same as the Earth, but it's air pressure are 92 times than the earth. This is the reason why there's no crater on Venus, the small asteroid are CRUSHED by air pressure of Venus. This also reason why the human cant look what is inside the Venus. So imagine if you hold 1 large dictionary book. You are absolutely can do it. But how if I added 92 more dictionary book? Your hands will not being a hand again (I know that hurts)

Venus composition. That's lots of CO2!
4. We Can't Breathe.
Now you have diamond skin, so you can resist the air pressure on Venus. But this is the problem: You can't breathe at Venus because, again it have 300 times of CO2 than the earth CO2. And, it also have very low O2 for you to breathe. The Apollo A7L only have oxygen for 7 hours. But maybe this will be your solution. For the mission to Mars, scientists are developed a carbon dioxide to O2 transformer to installed at Mars Rover. Maybe this is the solution for Venus.

Did you think there's any animal here? FYI, that's wasn't H2O rain. Instead it's Sulphuric Acid rain.
5. We Don't Have Water and Food
After you have as-hard-as-diamond skin and CO2 breathing system, you still have problems. How did you eat or drink? Animal and plant are died due the hot temperature. Water evaporates. Your ransom for 45 years at Venus are melting and you can't eat it again. Maybe they evolved to have a diamond skin like you, but how did you cut/kill/eat them? Did you want to eat diamond? Yeah, you don't want to do that, right? So this is the trickiest part. You want melt steak or diamond steak?
